Just when I think I have seen it all, SEMA surprises me again. This year at the 2014 SEMA show the Ring Brothers, Mike and Jim, have decided to unveil a 980 horsepower Chevelle that they have affectionately named Recoil.
It’s a supercharged, fuel-injected Wegner Mostorsports LS7 V8 that guzzles down that 91-octane pump gas accompanied by a Dynotech driveshaft, flowmaster mufflers, and nine-inch Ford rear end, along with a lovely Tremec T56 transmission reinforced by Bowler. HRE wheels add a touch of style to the Recoil.
This track-oriented Recoil is dripping in beautiful Sand Storm paint while exposed carbon fiber give the illusion of racing stripes on the hood. The cockpit is fit for a minimalist. I mean, who ever said racecars need to be comfortable? There is light padding on exposed seat frames and a racepak gauge system to complete the look.
Recently, Mike and Jim Ring, the RingBrothers, worked with a Russian client, whom they have never met and for that matter, never directly talked to, to develop a unique and off the wall car to be shipped to London after the 2015 SEMA Show in Las Vegas.
For this seemingly mysterious client, the car, named Espionage, is a 1965 Carbon Fiber Mustang. “We think a lot of younger people will be into it because they like carbon fiber and will become attracted to the older body styles,” said Mike Ring.
Jim Ring said that it is always a goal of theirs to be different, especially in an industry with so many creative people, “It forces us to try and do different things. The use of carbon fiber is really coming in strong and we think it

In the words of Nicole Ellan James, Editor-in-Chief:
In black and white terms, SEMA is hell week in the best way possible. Its a week where you wake up early, work all day, stay up late continuing to work, and then forget to eat and drink like a normal person. Its overwhelming, magical, and literally nothing can compare. While it is a trade show or a convention, its also a car show in the sense that aftermarket company’s bring out the best of the best to
On February 27, 2016, a crash occurred around midnight on the California 5 freeway in the Commerce area as a result of suspected street racing which claimed three innocent victims. The victims were Scott Treadway, Michelle Littlefield, and Brian Lewandowski as identified by multiple sources.
Treadway was driving his UPS truck down the southbound 5 when his truck was struck by a Dodge Challenger. Treadway lost control of the eighteen wheeler and crashed through the center divider and hit a gray Nissan Sentra travelling northbound, returning from a trip to Disneyland. The top of the little Nissan was sheared off killing two of the occupants. The truck finally came to rest upon a Ford Explorer and burst into flames where Treadway was also killed. The collision involved eight vehicles total, injuring four others and closed the 5 freeway for 24 hours.
