Last weekend, NAA Arizona held their annual club event adjacent to Luke Air Force Base at Arizona Motorsports Park. The two-day event brought beginners and experienced drivers together for the love of speed and the opportunity to push their cars to the limit.

Miki Weckstrom, driver of the No. 45 Olsbergs MSE X Forces car, earned a first place victory in the first round of the Global RallyCross Lites series race held in Phoenix, Arizona, May 21, at Wild Horse Pass Motorsports Park. The victory gives Weckstrom the series lead in drivers points.

Lites-E11Connor Martell secured a second place finish in the first round of racing, followed by Alex Keyes in third position.

It could almost be called a sensory attack, waking you immediately and draining you of any sort of tiredness or fatigue in your body.

Pulling into beautiful downtown Long Beach, California, it is apparent that you are in a special place.

There is a light mist in the air, a cool crisp breeze that envelops you with the soothing smell of salty ocean water. A visually stunning city with a coast line of beautiful white sands and an urban sprawling feel all at once. There is the usual hustle and bustle of traffic; the sounds of the crashing ocean waves mixed with the angry driver honking behind you as you sit at the green light in awe of the environment surrounding you. The cool crisp breeze also carries a very distinct smell that any car fanatic will recognize in an instant: the smell of burning tires.

It wasn’t a countdown of days till, it was a countdown of hours.  Every hour was as vital as the next.  

Vacation time approved.  Room booked.  Carpool planned and confirmed. Proper camera equipment acquired.  Media meeting after media meeting. Assignments and deadlines established.  And finally, finished up the work week and head out.

Arrival time? 1 a.m. after a 6 hour drive in the pitch black dark after a 12 hour work day.  

Media meeting before bed with alarms set.  But of course…can’t fall asleep.
