California Legacy License Plates
[dropcap style=”style1″]C[/dropcap]alifornia license plates are officially going old school. As of June 17, 2015, the Department of Motor Vehicles in California is accepting orders for the Legacy plate for any year automobile, commercial vehicle, motorcycle, or trailer. It will cost a total of $50 dollars for a personalized or non personalized plate.
Under the states new legacy license plate program, the Department of Motor Vehicles gave all motorists the chance to buy one of three classically designed license plates, contingent on at least 7,500 pre-orders placed before January 1, 2016, for Californians to receive the new plates.
There are three designs to choose from: the yellow plate with black lettering from 1950’s, the black plate with yellow lettering from the 1960’s, and the blue plate with yellow lettering from the 1970’s. The only plate to meet the pre-order requirement was the 1960’s plate.
The downfall is that Californians who order a new plate may have to wait nine months to a year for the plate to get to them.
