Cars From the Concours: 1972 Maserati Ghibli SS Roadster

The Ghibli was Maserati’s answer to the Lamborghini Miura and Ferrari 365 GTB/4 Daytona. Beginning as a fastback coupe in April 1967 and joined by a spyder version in 1969, 1,274 Ghiblis were built from 1967 to 1973, with only 125 spyder models assembled. Out of those 125, only 25 had the SS option, with a larger 335 hp, 4.9-liter DOHC V8. Of the 25, approximately six were ordered with a factory hard top, this car being one of them. Presented in Russo Corsa with black leather interior and Borrani wire wheels, this rare Spyder SS has fewer than 25,000 miles and only three owners since new.
