By Nicole James

The end of day one… My thoughts? SEMA equals flawless. Every car, truck, wheel, break, rotor, engine bay, paint job, interior, and anything else you can think of is absolutely flawless. I have been to a lot of different car shows in my life, but nothing has ever been more impressive then the hundreds of cars I have seen today at SEMA. I’m sorry to the Arizona car scene, but it’s about time you step up your game.

As if being surrounded by the most amazing cars on the planet isn’t good enough, I was also surrounded by some of the most influential and innovative leaders in the automotive industry as well as amazing drivers. CSJ encountered our very own local Drift celeb, Corey Hosford, as well as Forest Wang and Fredric Aasbo to name a few. But it didn’t [...]

LAS VEGAS (Nov.  4, 2014) – The winners of the 2014 SEMA Awards were announced today at the SEMA Show, recognizing the vehicles specialty-equipment manufacturers believe are the best for accessorization.

For the third year in a row the SEMA Award for Hottest Car was presented to the Ford Mustang. In the 4×4-SUV category, the Jeep Wrangler again took top honors. The Chevy Silverado pickup won in the Truck category and in the Sport Compact category the Honda Fit won the day.

The coveted awards were presented to company executives this morning at a SEMA breakfast attended by nearly 3,000 industry representatives, business owners and working press in the Westgate Hotel and Resort. The selection was made by surveying all exhibitors in regards to the vehicles they are displaying in their booths.

Ford has always had a huge presence at the SEMA show and this year is no different. Sitting on a platform spanning the width of one of the convention center halls here in Las Vegas, Car Street Journal found the Ford Racing booth. With a huge jumbotron as the background with four different model year mustangs embellishing it, a white sheet lay atop of a mysterious car.

As we gathered with excitement waiting to see what was under the sheet, the jumbotron showed images of Ken Block driving his rally car and Von Gritten Jr. drifting his stang mixed with images of the various Ford Racing cars preforming on the track. Hundreds of people surrounded the car and the crowd’s anxiety was suffocating and the anticipation was unreal. Being close to the front, CSJ was able to see some of the cars details [...]

Local Motors at SEMA 2014- Live Coverage

By Rebecca Nguyen

Two steps into the Las Vegas Convention Center a familiar design is presented.  Our friends at Local Motors are at it again! A 3D storm has rolled into Las Vegas, hot off the press.

The 3D printing craze has brought innovation to an all time high and Local Motors has not missed a beat.  Only about 6 months ago did CSJ visit their Phoenix, AZ factory to report on their first 3D printed car, and here we are viewing their final product.

Day one has started off on familiar foot and we will be bringing you a more in depth perspective after our interview with Engineering and Community Manager at the Arizona factory Alex Fiechter.

High Heels and Horsepower: Welcome to Fabulous Las Vegas- Live Coverage from SEMA 2014

It’s like going to the Oscars of the car world… You don’t get to go unless you are invited or just super lucky. I went from counting down the days to counting down the hours. As if I was getting ready for some big date, I got butterflies in my stomach as I thoughtfully planned out every outfit I would be wearing at the 2014 SEMA Show in Las Vegas.

It’s been quite a journey to get here. And journey is a nice way of putting it. Like any fairytale, the main character has to go through several challenges to prove they are worthy before they can take over the kingdom. My Challenges before heading to SEMA?

It all started two weeks ago… My car was acting up and I was on a mission to save money for [...]
