Eye Candy: Goodguys 7th annual Spring Nationals
[dropcap style=”style1″]M[/dropcap]arch 4 was the start of Goodguys’ 2016 show season at WestWorld of Scottsdale, Arizona and featured over 2,000 show cars, rods, customs, trucks, and muscle cars across the polo field and upperpadocks making up their 7th annual Spring Nationals.
The winners circle included Tom Karp’s ’61 Buick – the season’s first finalist award for Custom Rod of the Year; Utah’s Alan Miller in his ’70 Chevelle was the season’s first Muscle Machine of the Year finalist and Tom Anderson’s fresh ’56 Ford from Hot Rods & Hobbies grabbed the season’s first Truck of the Year-Late finalist.
In addition to the beautiful cars the event also featured AutoCross on all three days of the show. Winners at the season opener included Scott Fraser (Pro and Duel transfer winner with a 106.001 lap), Adam Watkins in Street Machine with a 111.406, Speedtech Performance in the truck class with a 112.244, Ken Burk in Hot Rod with a 136.390 and Marshall Machado in All American Sunday with a 113.578.
Also on track, the Austin Hatcher Foundation returned to offer fundraising ride-alongs to raise funds for the fight against pediatric cancer, while Ridetech did a live install of their “Street Grip” suspension on Friday.
Other features of the event included live music, and a video tribute to Gary Meadors.
