Kyle Busch wins AXALTA at PIR

[dropcap style=”style1″]K[/dropcap]yle Busch dominated the AXALTA Faster. Tougher. Brighter 200 at Phoenix International Raceway in the No. 18 NOS Energy Drink Toyota, securing his ninth win in the XFINITY Series in phoenix.

According to Busch, his participation in the Saturday races help get him prepared for the following Sprint Cup race on Sundays, however he notes that its not as easy as it looks and it definitely was not today as Busch’s teammates almost seemed to be breathing down his neck the entire race. “They were fast, and they made me drive me car as hard as I could all day long. I never could give up, or take it easy out there in order to try to save some stuff. They were pushing me.”

Busch attributes the win to great communication between himself and Chris Gayle in addition to the Camry. “We didn’t quite qualify on the pole, but that’s not what pays the bills so we did our job here today.”

As Busch gears up for the Good Sam 500 Sprint Cup he says the tire used this year is a lot different then last years and that is something to keep in mind. “There are a lot of different characteristics and things that are happening throughout a run. To toss the car around and to run it as hard as I had to run it all day, I really felt the tire degradation and the falloff that we got.” Busch says it will be interesting to see how the Sprint Cup race will go as the Cup car has┬áless down force and more horsepower.

“Its going to be a fun day. Its going to be a lot of slipping and sliding, and trying to figure out what grove the car will work in and trying to find some speed if those guys in ┬áthe front are holding us up.”
