NRG Product Review: Steering wheel, quick release, and short hub

[dropcap style=”style1″]R[/dropcap]ecently I have been doing a lot of work to my 1990 Honda Civic.  Among some other upgrades, such as new paint and wheels, I figured it was time for an upgrade when it came to the steering wheel, plus my stock steering wheel was also ripping apart and too squishy for my liking. After some consult from JDMFresh, I decided on the NRG SRK-190H Short Hub, NRG SRK-200SL Quick Release Gen 2.0, and ST-015CH-WT Steering Wheel. Changing the steering wheel of the car can really make a difference to the way the interior looks and feels. Depending on what set up you get, it can also have anti-theft benefits and help with those hot summer days.

To install the new set up, the short hub gets bolted down with the size 19 nut. The quick release comes in two pieces. The bottom half on the quick release then gets screwed on to the short hub while the top half of the quick release gets screwed to the steering wheel.

After all the parts are in place you’ll have to turn the wheel till it locks into place on the bottom half of the quick release connected to the steering column. Once you hear it lock your all set to drive. To take the steering wheel off, just pull up on the top half on the quick release.

I’ve had this set up on for about two weeks now and I love it. The smooth grip, easy turning, and heat resistant paint coat makes me love this product even more.  One of the biggest issues I had with my stock steering wheel was that in addition to falling apart, it was black. I live in Arizona and the summer sun is always heating up the steering wheel causing me to burn my hands every time I got in the car.

With the new NRG steering wheel I can now take off and bring with me to keep it out of the sun or when I don’t feel like carrying it around I know that when I go back to my car I won’t burn myself.

Another plus about having a removable steering wheel is that it’s an anti theft solution, no one can steal a car without being able to steer it.

I would definitely recommend this product to any and all car lovers out there. This is an easy way to make your car look good, stand out, and not get stolen. To get this setup, or something similar, visit the JDMFresh guys located in the FreshOP store on Scottsdale road and McDowell.
