You read that right! Yes, the iconic Back to the Future car is going into production for the first time in over thirty years.
The federal government has approved a low volume manufacturing bill for the DeLorean Motor Company.
For the first time in the cars history it will be manufactured in the United States at a manufacturers plant in Texas.
“It’s fantastic! It is a game changer for us. We’ve been wanting this to happen.” Said Chief Executive Officer Stephen Wynne.
The company will be building replica 1982 DeLoreans with a turn around time of approximately one week to complete each one. Wynne hopes to sell these new DeLoreans for under $100,000 and thinks the company will be able to build around 300 cars per year.
The first DeLorean continuation car is expected to roll off the assembly line in early 2017.
